We are excited to announce the expansion of West Coast Family Medical Clinic. Construction of the 1,400 square foot expansion will be wrapping up over the next week or two. The expansion has added 5 new clinical exam rooms, a larger minor procedure room, a telehealth room to allow certain specialists in Victoria to assess patients in Sooke with the help of a registered nurse, a new conference room with videoconferencing capabilities to allow for group medical visits, and new administrative spaces for the clinic nurses and medical office assistants. The expansion will allow the West Coast Family Medical Clinic team to add new members. Two new registered nurses will be starting before the end of the month, recruitment of a nurse practitioner is underway, and the first of two new hoped-for family physicians will start in August. This expansion is the result of a collaboration between the existing physicians at West Coast Family Medical Clinic, Island Health, the South Island Division of Family Practice, and the Sooke Primary Health Services Working Group, with support from the Provincial Government. For local residents without a primary care provider, we will be opening a waiting list in the near future.
